FAQ

1. Who can come to the conference?

a. I am not within the age group.

You are younger than 18? As long as your English language skills are sufficient to understand the messages, that’s totally fine. We also had quite a few participants aged 15 or even younger over the past two years. The GBS will be held in English, German and Korean, and divided by age and gender.

You are older than 25? Fine as well. If you are a parent and/or missionary, who wants to serve the conference (not just “observe” your children 😉 ), you are welcome as well.

b. I am not from Europe.

Guests from Russia, Korea, the Middle East, the US, Canada, and other countries are always a great encouragement to us. We are looking forward to meeting you!

c. I am not from UBF.

Doesn’t matter. As Christians, we all belong to the greater body of Christ. We are sure that we can learn a lot from each other and bless each other.

d. Can I bring my (Non-Christian) friends?

Sure! “Come and see.”

2. Logistics and Accommodation

a. Which airport should I choose for my arrival and departure?

Please choose Cologne/Bonn (CGN). Alternatively, you can also book for QKL. In the latter case, you will arrive in Frankfurt airport (FRA) and directly continue your journey by train to Cologne main station.

b. Are you going to pick us up at the airport?

We are aware that it’s not easy to get to the conference site on your own, especially when you are in a foreign country. On the other hand, it is extremely challenging to pick up more than 50 people from abroad, when they all arrive at different places and different times. So, please make sure to arrive at said airport and date, and let us know if anything in your itinerary changes.

c. Is it okay, if I arrive earlier and/or stay longer than Aug 9-12?

Yes. Please let us know if you need a place to stay and for how long. If you already have a place to stay, let us know anyway, so that we don’t have to worry about your whereabouts. 😉

3. Regarding money…

a. How do I pay the conference fee?

Please transfer the money to the following bank account by (…), stating your name and the chapter you are from: (…) In case you want to pay for several people at once, please state the names of all participants respectively.

In some cases, the conference fee can also be paid in cash on site. Please drop us a short notice beforehand.

b. Is there any way to get financial support?

Money shouldn’t prevent anyone from coming to Encounter. In such a case, we would like to support you by covering part of your travel expenses or the conference fee. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with us, so that we can find a solution together.

4. What should I prepare for the conference?

The question sheets for the group bible studies (GBS) will be uploaded about one month ahead of the conference. Please take a deeper look at the passages beforehand and PRAY.
Bedsheets will be provided by the hostel (incl. in the fee), but please bring your own towels with you. Insect repellents, sportswear, an English Bible, and something to take notes should be on your packing list as well.

5. How can I support the conference?

PRAYER is one of the key factors to make a conference successful. Pray for all people who are actively supporting or contributing to the conference program, but also for the people serving in the background. Pray for yourself that God may meet you where you are and reveal Himself to you at the Encounter.
There are many ways to support us practically and to serve the conference with the gifts and talents God has given you. If you want to engage in one of the teams, e.g. music, testimonies, GBS teachers, decoration, technique etc., please get in touch with Esther Nett.

6. Is there an official after-conference program?

We would like to invite our Non-German participants to attend one of the German worship services on Sunday.
Sightseeing tours can be organized as well. However, if you plan a longer stay in Germany or something like a Europe tour, please try to organize that on your own. Certainly, there are people who will warmly welcome you and show you around in their town.
